Thanks for coming to our opening day!
Welcome to North Side Bound! This site is meant to be a one stop shop for fans of the Cubs minor league system. We are going to have prospect rankings, articles, profiles, updates, interviews, podcasts, transactions, statistics, and even video and pictures of what’s happening with Cub prospects. We also have a Twitter Account @NSideBound for you to follow as well as a page on Facebook for you to like.
For many of you, this website is going to look really familiar as you already know most of the people who will provide the content. Let’s meet the authors of North Side Bound!
Greg Huss – As the co-host of the Growing Cubs podcast, Greg has been writing at Out of the Vines for a few years and has been at Cubs insider for the past three summers writing the weekly farm report and doing the Growing Cubs podcast. A self-professed stat nerd, Greg will have juicy bits of numeric data as part of his brand on this site. @OutoftheVines
Todd Johnson – Todd’s been blogging about the Cubs for a long time at Cubs Central, Cubs Insider, and Baseball Prospectus Wrigleyville. He writes almost daily and takes a lot of pictures when he goes to see South Bend play. @CubsCentral08
Jimmy Nelligan – Jimmy is going to be making his internet writing debut and he comes with a lot of expertise as he has been the co-host of the Growing Cubs podcast since its inception and is a former college pitcher. @NelliganJimmy
Greg Zumach – It seemed like a weird time to do so, but Greg started his site Ivy Futures in the middle of the pandemic and word spread quickly about his draft expertise. Last year, he was focused on James Triantos as a possible target for the Cubs in the second round weeks before the draft. He also has done some great interviews with players and even Cub execs like V-P of Scouting Dan Kantrovitz! @IvyFutures
The genesis for North Side Bound began in 2020 but really came to fruition at the end of this summer with the amount of moves the Cubs made to replenish their farm system. The four of us thought there was no better time than now to launch our own site. We decided collectively to release the website today so that we could have the best content ready for opening day next year. That and Rob Manfred told us not to upstage the World Series.
So, the next four months will be our Spring Training to get ready for 2022!
This winter, we will be keeping you updated on trades, transactions, the MLB Draft, the Rule 5 Draft, 40-man roster decisions, International Free Agency, and we will even have some long looks at the Cubs’ system including prospect profiles, updates, and analysis. When spring training begins, we should be rolling and in a groove.
We are pretty excited to get going!
Our “Opening Day” kicks off with all four of us dropping our individual top Cubs prospect rankings. When it’s all said and done, we will combine those rankings into a single North Side Bound Top Prospect list at some point next week. Here are the prospect list links to get you started. Enjoy!
We also have some other content up and ready for your perusal. Just use the menu at the top of the page to access.
Thanks again for coming to our “Opening Day” and keep checking in every day!
