A long anticipated and awaited promotion for Cade Horton today, as he is reportedly being called up to the Triple-A Iowa Cubs! Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register was on it.

Horton has been dominating AA hitters in 2024, a carry-over performance from his exciting 2023 year. Cade has pitched in 4 games, allowing just 2 ER in 16.1 IP and 18K’s. The time is most certainly right for the next challenge and AAA will offer Cade more opportunities to show just how ready he is to make an impact at Wrigley later this summer.

Horton, widely regarded as a top 3 pitching prospect in all of baseball, is set to join Iowa and make his next start for the AAA team, likely later this week. Expect the team to continue to stretch him out and manage his workload at the same time so that he will be ready to provide valuable innings for the big league team.

How many starts and appearances will Horton make in Iowa? It’s a guessing game at this point, but I think it’s safe to say we will see Cade in Chicago sooner rather than later. Today’s move suggests the Cubs feel the same way.
