What the heck is going on? Today is a Friday.

With all the full-season affiliates off for four straight days, they return to action today. And, as such, there will be some player movement between the four. Here at North Side Bound, we are expecting several moves, maybe even some big moves that will require a separate article to just cover said move.

Here are some names who could be on the move today

Tennessee – Pete Crow-Armstrong and a reliever or two, like Danis Correa, Blake Whitney or Zac Leigh, should all move to Iowa. I wish Haydn McGeary was moving up, but that is pretty much a pipe dream until August 1. Bradlee Beesley could return after his recent time in Mesa on a rehab assignment.

South Bend – Cade Horton, Brandon Birdsell, and Connor Noland are all practically ready for Double-A. However, there is not room for all three of them in the rotation in Tennessee. Maybe two of them? I don’t know. We shall see. Relievers Adam Laskey, Eduarniel Nunez, and Sheldon Reed have to be close along with Ezequiel Pagan and/or Yohendrick Pinango, who has been hot since June 1. Christian Franklin’s time on the Development List might be at an end as he has been ripping it in Mesa.

Myrtle Beach – Parker Chavers is ready, more than ready, for South Bend. He is long overdue in fact. Half the bullpen could and should move up in Koen Moreno, Johzan Oquendo, and Yovanny Cabrera along with starting pitchers Nick Hull and Grant Kipp.

Mesa – OF Jefferson Encarnacion has been tearing it up along with Christian More. There could be a reliever or two headed up to the Beach like Eligio Paredes.

Here are moves that have been made since the last day of Transactions – 10 days ago.

Iowa – Jake Washer and Hunter Bigge were activated. Riley Thompson went to the Development List. Alexander Canario is now on South Bend’s roster.

Tennessee – None

South Bend – Canario added, Didier Vargas was released

Myrtle Beach – Saul Gonzalez was placed on the injured full season list. Kevin Valdez went on a rehab assignment to Mesa. Juan Mora is on the 7 Day IL. Scott Kobos added to the roster.

Mesa – None

DSL – Oferman Hernandez switched from the Red to the Blue Squad, pitchers Dalbert Mosquea and Nestor Prilea were activated for Red, C Vincent Nunez was activated off the restricted list by Blue and C Abel De Leon switched from the Blue to the Red. OF Wellington Santana was released.

I will check in with you around 9:30 this morning and through to mid afternoon. Then, I will hop in my truck around 2:30, leave the wife and pups behind, and head to Davenport for South Bend’s game against Quad Cities. I will report once I get there a little after 4.

9:30 AM

Nothing happening right now, maybe in the noon hour when the emails arrive…or earlier.

Weather looks like it might interrupt my travel plans for today. Hurry up and wait I guess.

Iowa Cubs sent LHP Brailyn Marquez on a rehab assignment to South Bend Cubs.

Tennessee Smokies sent LHP Stephen Gonsalves on a rehab assignment to South Bend Cubs.

The email came in from Myrtle Beach. No new moves other than Marquez and Gonsalves coming up. So, I will have to go without Parker Chavers in South Bend this weekend.
