In 2020, the Cubs went on a nondrafted free agent signing frenzy inking up over a dozen players after a five round draft. Those names include Matt Mervis, Sheldon Reed, Jarod Wright, Ben Leeper, Scott Kobos, and Bradlee Beesley, to name a few. Last year, they signed just Grant Kipp. That was it.

This year, the Cubs already struck a signing on day one post draft by getting Kenten Egbert from Miami of Ohio. The 6-foot-3 righty threw 75 innings this spring and struck out 90 with a 3.96 ERA in the MAC. He’s got a 70s style-like leg kick in his delivery but can throw in the mid 90s.

Check back to this post to see updates if and when they occur.

The Cubs added their second pitcher in nondrafted free agency as they signed Landon Ginn who was a junior at East Carolina.

While he had a 4.76 ERA on the year, he pitched well with a 2.95 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 18.1 innings during American Athletic Conference play and was near dominant in the regional with 5 Ks in 4.1 innings.
