It’s getting to that point in the year where I’m starting to feel like a broken record. I keep bringing up the same names to get promoted and I feel like I’ve been doing it for the last four or five weeks. With the draft being next week and then the trade deadline happening in about three weeks, there are going to be a lot of moves made. I just don’t think we’re going to see a whole lot today.

But if we coud…

To Iowa

Matt Mervis is ready for Iowa. Danis Correa, the same. Those two should’ve been up a couple of weeks ago but for whatever reason, the Cubs decided not to.

To Tennessee

DJ Herz and Yohendrick Pinango are ready to go to Kodak and work on whatever it is they need to work on there. Herz needs to go deeper in the games and he can do that there just as well as he can at South Bend.

To South Bend

Two guys that I think are ready are Tyler Santana and Ezequiel Pagán. I’ve been saying Pagán almost every week for two months. Santana is more than ready for South Bend and has been since the beginning of the year. I’m still not sure why he was put in Myrtle Beach other than there was just a roster crunch.

To Myrtle Beach

I surprised you with this one didn’t I. I’d like to see Miguel Amaya come up to step in for a week and work his way up to Tennessee. Now that he’s started hitting in Mesa after a week or so, he is still going to DH for quite a while. He can do that in the Carolina League for a spell. I would also not be opposed to seeing Outfielder Christian More head with him. Pitcher Sam Thoresen will be getting close along with Koen Moreno. Both are a few weeks away from being ready for Myrtle Beach.

Here are the few promotions/transactions from Saturday and Sunday:

Iowa – Michael Rucker is back in Des Moines
Tennessee – Peyton Remy came back from the birth of his second child (congrats!) and Ben Hecht is officially on a rehab assignment in Mesa
South Bend – Riley Martin came off the Development List, Joe Nahas went on.
Myrtle Beach – None (Sam Thoresen has been throwing in Mesa but is not listed as being on a rehab assignment. Alberto Sojo, the same)

Whatever happens today, it is not going to be unexpected. Everybody knows who’s ready and it’s not a secret. The only secret is when it’s going to happen. I will be back around 2 PM to check in.

I will be taking off around 2:30 to go to Peoria for tonight’s South Bend game. This might be my last game of the year depending upon how much the roster changes over next month. My only other opportunities to see them in this part of the division will be in Appleton in mid-August and in Cedar Rapids the last week.

12:25 PM

No transactions for Myrtle Beach.

4:45 PM

Nothing but crickets today
