Sucks the archives on NSBB are gone…I happened to make a trip to Eugene, Oregon in 2015 and caught this lefty with 93, a bat missing curve, and an absolute bulldog mentality on the mound. He stole the show with Eloy Jimenez out at the time. That guy was Carson Sands j/k it was Justin Steele. Funny enough that same trip featured an endorsement for then brand new IFA Miguel Amaya (a rough quote was “we think we got a good one” in reference to a newly signed IFA catcher)
Have to admit I did duck out on Steele after the TJ, my prejudice against that surgery was and is pretty strong, but also pat myself on the back for noticing him before the TJ as one of the better performing pitchers when no one else did
It’s pretty crazy the ride we all went on with him and how closely it aligned with the consensus rankings of him. Rollercoaster ride for sure!
