It’s being reported this morning that Pete Crow-Armstrong is being promoted from the Iowa Cubs on Tuesday. Jeff Passan was first with the news.

Pete Crow-Armstrong (PCA) is the Cubs #1 ranked prospect and the #12 overall prospect according to MLB rankings. PCA was selected by the New York Mets in the first round (overall pick #19) in 2020 and was acquired by the Cubs on July 30,2021 in exchange for Javier Báez. After coming back from injury, PCA had a breakout year in 2022 while playing at Myrtle Beach (Low A) and South Bend (High A). He began the 2023 season at AA Tennessee before being promoted to AAA Iowa on August 1st. He’s been on a hot streak recently and hit his second grand slam of the week on Sunday.

I happened to be in Iowa last week to watch the Iowa Cubs play. He was in a little bit of a slump the first couple of games I attended, but you could see he was close to breaking out of it and he did. He brings an incredible glove and speed to the outfield and he’s a spark plug of energy for his team. Hoping he can be a burst of energy for the big league club to push them into the playoffs!

This remains my pinned tweet and it’s a reminder of the athleticism that Pete Crow-Armstrong brings to the field. It was the first day I saw him on the field at Sloan Park and I immediately knew that he was going to be a special player.
