Today seems pretty anticlimactic after last week and the fanfare surrounding the promotions of Cade Horton and Pete Crow-Armstrong. With Brandon Birdsell moving up to Tennessee, that opens a spot in South Bend, probably for Grant Kipp and maybe even Nick Hull. Who knows, will today finally be the day for Parker Chavers?

Here are all the moves since last Tuesday. I repeat, since last Tuesday. There was a lot of moving!

Iowa

Transferred Danis Correa and Darius Hill to the Development List
Stephen Gonsalves assigned to Iowa
Tyler Duffey assigned to Iowa
Riley Martin activated off the Development List
Ben Brown placed on the IL
Shane Greene, Anthony Kay, and Luke Little assigned to Iowa
Jeremiah Estrada assigned to ACL Cubs.
Caleb Kilian called up to Chicago
Activated Dom Nunez

Tennessee

Brandon Birdsell assigned to Tennessee
Scott Kobos assigned to Tennessee

South Bend

Johzan Oquendo assigned to South Bend.
Activated Dilan Granadillo off the Development List
Kevin Alcantara and Jarod Wright placed on the 7-Day IL.
Grant Kipp promoted to South Bend yesterday

Myrtle Beach

Activated Marino Santy
Jonathon Long Assigned to Myrtle Beach on Monday, otherwise known as yesterday.
Reggie Preciado played in the ACL last night. Likely will be announced today as either a rehab stint or he is assigned there.

ACL

Alfonsin Rosario and Jonathon Long activated in Mesa.

I’m not expecting too many moves today. I have noticed the trend this year that most moves are being made after 4 PM Central. Still, we may get one or two slip through. I will be back around 1 PM to check in.

11 AM

Some news came in right before this published today…Derek Casey is back in South after two years of TJS and rehab. Michael McAvene returns to South Bend to right his ship.

As well, Manny Espinoza and Chris Kachmar placed on the 7 Day IL. Yeah, Tennessee may need some more arms…maybe tomorrow.

And the Iowa Cubs released catcher Dom Nunez.

It was just announced that Reggie Preciado was “officially” sent on a rehab assignment to Mesa.

2:10 PM

It has been pretty quiet since that first flurry of moves around 11. Myrtle Beach’s email came in with no additional moves other than the ones previously reported. So, we wait until between 4 and 5 and see what happens with Tennessee and Iowa.

2:30 PM

Ryan Jensen is now a Seattle Mariner. The Cubs tried to sneak him through and the Mariners claimed him. The former first round pick has struggled the past two years on the mound. He did convert to being a reliever but with inconsistent results. He only has pitched 20 innings this year with an ERA over 6.

4:15 PM

Adam Laskey promoted from South Bend to Tennessee
