Cristian Hernandez – Pic by Larry Kave/Myrtle Beach Pelicans

It was a long day of travel for me as I went up to Appleton in the morning and came back in the afternoon. Needless to say, I was out early, somewhere around 8:30. So, I am a little behind this morning.

As for Baseball Yesterday…

The rain held off long enough for the Timber Rattlers and the Cubs to get a game in but South Bend forgot to bring their offense. They did score 2 runs on a Bryce Ball single. But that was it on the day as South Bend only managed to get three hits as they lost 4 to 2.

Grand Slam of the Day

This happened in the first inning of the Pelicans game as Cristian Hernandez went yard. It was his third home run of the year and he now has 14 RBI.

Pics of the Day

Here are a few I took up in Appleton.

Starting Pitcher of the Day

Nick Hull of Myrtle Beach went 4.2 innings, allowed 1 run and struck out four as the Pelicans won 7-2

Speaking of Iowa

Just like their fellow High-A Cubs, Iowa could only manage three hits on the day as they lost 4 to 1.

Other Performances of Note

Parker Chavers went 2-for-3 with a dinger and 2 RBI.

Samuel Reyes – 1  IP, 0 Runs, 0 hits, 2 Ks

Owen Caissie also went 2-for-3

Luis Vazquez went 2-for-4. He’s ready for Iowa.

Transactions

In a minor transaction move, SS Pedro Ramirez was assigned to the ACL Cubs from Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The Pelicans also activated SS Rafael Morel from the 7-day injured list in a corresponding move. In addition, Tennessee Smokies transferred LHP Burl Carraway from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. As well, the Iowa Cubs transferred C Jake Washer to the Development List.
