This much we do know, Pete Crow, Armstrong last played on April 18 against Chattanooga and went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. That brought his average to .343 on the year and is on base percentage to .395. He has been missing in action since with an undisclosed illness according to Smokies Broadcaster Mick Gillispie. Minor-league teams are pretty cagey  when it comes to releasing information about injured prospects. The Cubs just wanted to give him rest and hope that he healed up after a week. Hopefully he did.

We are also going to find out today about whether or not Daniel Palencia will be placed on the injured list as well. He was removed after two innings this past week after shaking his arm out after a pitch in the second inning. He did finish the inning before coming out of the game.

One last big set of questions revolves around that the big league club who was off yesterday. Will we see some movement there as well? Could Chris Morel head back to Chicago and bring Matt Mervis along with him? That would be fun! There could even be a reliever or two headed there as well as a starting pitcher like say Caleb Kilian or even Roenis Elias. We shall see!

I will be checking in occasionally throughout the day. I will have times in each class to check the transaction wire and my email for any news.

Here’s what we do know about some news from this past weekend.

*The Iowa Cubs transferred RHP Nick Neidert to the Development List.
*The Tennessee Smokies activated RHP Peyton Remy from the Development List.
*RHP Oliver Roque has been released. The Cubs  also released three DSL players including RHP  Kenneddy Delgado, RHP Yohan Crispin, and C-INF Carlos Ramos.
*Bradlee Beesley of South Bend posted on Instagram that he was moving on up to Tennessee last night. Good for him! He’s showed he does not belong in High-A.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans might be getting Kyle Hendricks who would be doing a rehab stint this week. Tennessee is also an option, but it is too cold for him to do it with either Iowa or South Bend.

So, to recap, expect some sort of news about PCA and/or Palencia and there might be some movement from EXST to either Tennessee or South Bend. Who knows, Myrtle Beach has not had one transaction all year! We are about a week away from a ton of moves when May begins.

I will be back later this morning.

8:30 A.M.

There is nothing as of yet. I will check back in around 10ish.

10:15 A.M.

Crickets…nothing but crickets right now.

11:03 A.M.

Heading to South Bend – Christian Franklin and Ezequiel Pagan

Heading to Tennessee – Bradlee Beesley, Carlos Guzman

More moves to come as Myrtle Beach will probably get an OF or a 1B

South Bend might not get another pitcher. Tennessee will probably make a couple of corresponding moves to make room and the same for Iowa. It is going to get interesting this afternoon!

12:50 PM

No reciprocating moves for Myrtlle Beach today. Could be tomorrow.

The following is a bit of a stunner because of the temps.

2:53 PM

Just waiting on Tennessee and Iowa to release any moves.

3:52 PM

Up comes Nelly for a few days.

5:30 PM

Good news, finally! PCA is back and so is Daniel Palencia!
