The best way to describe tonight’s game would be that it was a good night to be an Iowa Cubs fan.

The I-Cubs were the only affiliate to win and they actually demolished the Omaha Stormchasers 14-1. Both Myrtle Beach and South Bend lost in two quick games. Tennessee, meanwhile, also fell behind quickly. What was supposed to be a night where three opening starters were on the mound, quickly devolved in 3 teams playing from behind.

The Pelicans lost 3-1 to Lynchburg. However, Christian Franklin went 2-for-4 as did Felix Stevens who had an inside-the-park home run.

South Bend went down hard 9-1. Richard Gallardo gave up 6 earned in 4.1 frames. The offense could not get going as no one had more than a hit.6-1 after 3. Then the comeback began in earnest in the 5th with Jordan Nwogu and Owen Caissie hit back-to-back jacks! That brought the Smokies to within one at 6-5. The Smokies never got any closer to the Biscuits

The funny thing…this is what happened in the AB prior to Caissie’s dinger. I’d say Owen plenty to argue about.

All the Awards Go to Guys in Iowa

Dom Nunez is a Guy

Sadly, Nunez did not make the 26-man roster. However, he’s ready for Chicago as he seems to be eating up Triple-A pitching. Even though he is hitting just above the Mendoza line, he’s driving in runs. He has 10 after tonight.

Morel.Is.Ready.

Yeah, he’s killing it in Des Moines. Tonight, he went yard with a 2-run dinger.

6 Guys

That’s right, six Iowa hitters had 2 hits or more. They include Morel, Mervis, Nunez, Tauchmann, Jared Young, and Sergio Alcantara. This video is as close an approximation to the I-Cubs offense as I’ve seen.
