Prospct List Season is really getting cooking this week between BP’s top Cubs list and Keth Law’s Top 100 on Monday and today’s top 100 by ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel.

I have always like Mc Daniel’s work going back to his day’s at FanGraphs. Today’s list is filled with some nuggets and analysis of his top 100 prospects in baseball.

As for the Cubs, McDaniel placed three in the top 100 and then he added four guys who just missed as  he labeled them as 50 grade fantasy value prospects. So, out of his top 123 guys, the Cubs had seven!

#36 – Pete Crow-Armstrong – No schocker here.

#51 Jordan Wicks – McDaniel is the only guy to put Wicks in their top 100…so far. Unlike most national guys, McDaniel did not focus on the stats of Wicks, but instead, focused on the stuff. Wicks tended to work on stuff throughout games trying to fine tune picthes. Once he got a feel for something, he pitched well and McDaniel praised the results, which he should.

#77 Kevin Alcantara – The Jaguar gets his second highest rating this winter today. I would expect he gets to the top 50 on most lists this summer.

50 Grade FV Guys (101-123)

Cristian Hernandez – Good to see this nod as Hernandez is still highly thought of, he just has to put it together at the plate.

James Triantos – As we saw in the 5 Series today, 2023 should be a big year for him.

Owen Caissie – I love everything about this kid – the hit tool, the arm, and the knowledge of the game stand out.

Hayden Wesneski – Likely begins the year in the rotation in Chicago in late March.

Noticeably Absent – Brennen Davis – Apparently, the injury was too much for McDaniel. Time to prove everybody wrong, I guess.
