Kevin Alcantara – Picture by Stephanie Lynn

It was nice having a day off yesterday from baseball and teaching but I was back at both today. The games snuck up on me tonight as I was doing laundry about a half hour ago and realized that I needed to do this post. It’s been that kind of day.

Starting Pitcher of the Day

This was a rather easy one as Chris Clarke of Tennessee dominated the Pensacola Blue Wahoos as he went six innings in a while just one run and struck out five. He threw just 74 pitches in six innings. That’s pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.!

Honorable Mention

I also got to watch Michael Arias pitch a little bit tonight from Myrtle Beach. He did walk four, but his stuff just moves through the zone. I wonder if he knows where it’s going to go. Arias did make it through three scoreless tonight, gave up just two hits, and he also struck out two.

Reliever of the Day

Bailey Horn is going to get the nod today as he went an inning in relief of Clark and struck out two batters.

Debut of the Day

Oliver Roque pitched one inning for Myrtle Beach and gave up a run but he showed he’s a little on the wild side. Like Arias, he some wild, wild stuff.

Dinger of the Day

There weren’t that many outside of Tennessee where Jake Slaughter hit his 19th and 20th dingers at Double-A and Yonathan Perlaza hit his 23rd at Tennessee. That’s pretty impressive! But the home run that was just spectacular was by none other than Kevin Alcantara, who might be the hottest hitters in the system right now.

Hitter of the Day

Correction…

Jake slaughter drove in six runs tonight Via two home runs including a grand slamhttps://twitter.com/ballskwok/status/1567341021750562816?s=21&t=2doIxyKr4fFU-B1-Gs-iIg. He is going to win our hitter of the day as the Smokies lower their magic number to 5.

I will be back in the morning with a Draf Pick profile of Shane Marshall, the Georgia catcher the Cubs want to convert into a pitcher.
