The South Bend Cubs are now in the playoffs!!! The Quad Cities River Bandits beat Beloit tonight which helped South Bend clinch a division title and a playoff spot for the Cubs for the second time in three seasons! Congrats to the team, the coaching staff, and the entire organization!

Today’s Awards

Tonight’s post is going to be pretty short. Both Tennessee and Iowa were rained out today. That left just Myrtle Beach and South Bend playing. It was not a pretty night. The Pelicans blew two run leads to lose 7 to 5 to Charleston. In South Bend, Richard Gallardo gave up to five earned runs and 3 unearned in just three innings of work as South Bend lost 10-8.

Reliever of the Day

South Bend’s Gabriel Jaramillo did not give up any earned runs in his three innings of work as he struck out three and only allowed two hits.

Hitters of the Day

You read that right. There will be plural winners.

Ezequiel Pagan continued his wonderful season as he went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and he also walked once. His season average is up to .296 to go along with a .813 OPS on the year. I’m excited to see him get back to South Bend at the beginning of next season. He played there for about a week in 2021. 08

Jordan Nwogu with 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. If he has a good game tomorrow, he will put himself in contention for hitter of the week.
