You cannot stop Myrtle Beach right now. Buddy Bailey has all facets of the team working like a well oiled machine right now. Tonight, they steamrolled Columbia 9-1 and it was never close as the Pelicans scored early and often. Meanwhile, South Bend was homer happy as they used 3 dingers from Alexander Canario, Matt Mervis, and Jordan Nwogu to drown the River Bandits 7-2. Both Tennessee and Iowa lost their games late with some bullpen implosions. Those were two tough defeats.

Pitcher of the Day

This was tough. Luis Devers looked great going 5 innings with 5 Ks while allowing 2 hits and not giving up any runs. Chris Clarke had a no-no through 4 before a solo shot in the 5th ruined that. Still, Clarke was almost perfect on the night and just dominating. One bad pitch was all he made. As a result, he gets the nod tonight for Starting Pitcher of the Day.

Hitter of the Day

BJ Murray was on fire tonight. He went 2-for-3 with a dinger as he is heating. However, Alexander Canario had 3 hits on the night and a laser to the power alley for his fourth home run on the season and third of the week. Yet, those two efforts were not enough to win the award. Ed Howard went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI to win Hitter of the Day. The young SS is hitting .333 this series and has a chance to improve on that tomorrow in the finale. In BP all week, he’s been working on going more up the middle and to right. I’d say it is working.

Reliever of the Day

For the second time this week, Conner Menez gets the honor as he struck out 8 over 3.2 innings as he allowed just one run.

Dinger of the Day

A laser by Alexander Canario.
