Although it might not feel like it, with MLB games not kicking off until Thursday and the rest of the minors holding out until Friday, TODAY is opening day for Triple-A baseball!

That includes the Iowa Cubs, who begin their season with a six-game set against the Buffalo Bisons. I gave quite an interesting season preview yesterday, with a list of names that I expected to be rostered but is actually still ever-changing.

We still haven’t actually seen an official roster from the I-Cubs or any of the Cubs affiliates, but we do know that Cory Abbott will be taking the bump as the opening day starting pitcher. I’ll be back with an updated version of this post once we know what the lineup looks like!

Update: The first lineup of the year is here!

Greg Deichmann (RF)
Brennen Davis (CF)
PJ Higgins (C)
Robel Garcia 3B)
Jared Young (1B)
Narciso Crook (LF)
Esteban Quiroz (2B)
Dixon Machado (SS)
Trent Giambrone (DH)

Enjoy the first of three different Cubs fans opening days!
