In a surprise twist, Baseball America released their 2022 farm system rankings and the Cubs moved from last year’s 22 spot all the way up to 15!!!

While the actual article is not very detailed, the movement of the Cubs bodes well for the organization considering the fact that most of the Cubs’ top rated prospects will only be at Low A Myrtle Beach this spring. If they perform at a high level this spring and summer, being a top 10 farm system a year from now could be a thing!

There will be other rankings coming. Don’t be surprised to see the Cubs not as high on MLB Pipeline‘s or The Athletic‘s as those authors tend to favor elite prospects at AA more so than Class A. ESPN and FanGraphs could be more in line with Baseball America as they tend to favor players with higher ceilings, even at the lower levels.

As for when most of the other team prospect lists come out, we may be waiting a while until the lockout ends as players on the 40-man cannot have their pictures on MLB related sites like MLB Pipeline.

However, when they do come out, we will be there to cover the lists.
